EP82 Answering the question: is it ADHD, cPTSD or both, and now what? With Tracy Nolin Beerman
Aug 24, 2022 Episode 82
Christa Bevan

In this very special crossover episode, I'm co-hosting the conversation about the intersection between ADHD and cPTSD (complex post-traumatic stress disorder) with my friend and colleague Tracy Nolin Beerman.  Tracy helps ADHD moms with ADHD adolescents reduce the overwhelm and negative emotions that often accompany ADHD so they can stay focused on what's important, present with what's in front of them and connected with their kids...even if there are a million other things calling for their attention in their beautiful, unique minds.

Through the Vision Driven Mom With ADHD podcast, the Vision Driven Moms With ADHD Facebook community, coaching, courses/programs and events, she'll show you how to BE the very best version of yourself regardless of your past or present circumstances (ADHD included).

In this episode you'll learn:

  • An overview of PTSD and cPTSD and how they are similar, but not the same
  • The basics of ADHD, including the three main types it can present as
  • Co-morbid conditions that are often found associated with an ADHD diagnosis
  • How the effects of cPTSD present and can be disruptive to your life, especially in parenting
  • Tracy’s story of getting diagnosed with ADHD and how the path to getting that answer wasn’t clear or straight forward
  • How it’s very common for both moms with ADHD and/or PTSD to not recognize these things in themselves until their symptoms show up in their kids
  • Treatment and management options for both ADHD as well as cPTSD
  • The good news and hope that can come from both living with ADHD and PTSD

A radical mother is a woman poised in her power ready to disrupt cycles of generational trauma running through her family like wildfire. She's working to improve her life, the lives of her children, and shape the landscape of her community. If that's you - you're in the right place.

This podcast is designed to connect you with resources, inspiration, and the reminder that you are not alone as you embark on your journey of radical mothering.

I’m your host Christa Bevan and I’m a nervous system educator for cycle breaker moms as well as a certified TRE (trauma releasing exercises) provider, and a trauma-informed yoga instructor. And of course, a fellow Radical Mother. My approach to this work blends neuroscience backed tools and heart-centered intuition.
